Whose dog is this outside? She shouted, standing at the door
It’s mine, I waved my hand All the way from the other end
Of the hall.
It’s shivering, I will call the police! She continued.
She’s alright, she’ll be fine, I tried to console.
But it’s shivering! She said.
It’s a dog, I replied. I couldn’t resist.
A dozen people were watching Silently.
There is a little boy, he’s very worried. She kept explaining.
This is a true story.
When I was done, as I left the building: There you are!
The worried lady rejoiced. The boy standing next to my dog,
His mother holding the boy’s hand. This is how my day began.
And the way that it ends, with a thought.
But in-between—I’ll tell you a secret—
I had a consultation with my druid.
From the parallel universe where only him and I exist,
I hope the lady is alright.
I really hope I didn’t give her too much of a fright.
