Assistants

Three hundred thousand dwarfs
Toiled for three hundred days
Over a canvas
To take her virginity away
And make her queen,
To sell for three hundred thousand bucks.

And when the deal was done
It was three weeks
That her reign
Lasted.

Her crown fell off
The embroidery on the velvet cape
Tore. Bit by bit she cracked.

And so did I.
I cracked up out loud,
Knowing that a piece of art
That cost more than I make in 3 years
Could be no different
Than a Chinese fake.
Which “the artist” then remakes,
This time using giants in disguise.

Because let’s face it.
You and Greed might be best friends.
But you gotta give a dwarf a break.
